Lucky Sixpence

Creating dreams that can be eaten

Who we are.....

Lucky Sixpence is a bespoke wedding cake company based in Nuneaton, Warwickshire and is owned and run by Louise Castledine and Rachel Fletcher.

Louise and Rachel both have over 20 years experience in surgarcraft and cake design, and when meeting up in 2001, and becoming neighbours a friendship soon formed, and was iced together by their mutual love of cake!

The business was set up in 2005, and they have never looked back.  The pair have been inseparable since, much the the dismay of their husbands, and are often found discussing new ideas for cake design over a cup of coffee.

Louise has always had a creative streak, and this moved to cake design after she decided to try her hand at making a christening cake for her first born daughter, Amii.  It was after this that she attended a number of college courses with international British Sugarcraft Guild demonstrator Jan Svenson, followed by one to one training with cake international and salon culinaire repeat gold medallist Joanne Congdon.

Rachel's love of cake design started at the tender age of 16, when she began to make birthday cakes for family members.  She decided to make the most of her passion and attended a two year college course in sugarcraft and achieve a distinction for her final assessment.

After the pair joined forces they have taken on a number of training courses, including chocolate and patisserie training with Master Chocolatiers John Slattery and John Costello and training courses with sugar flower legend Alan Dunn, expert modelist Debbie Brown and pioneering sugar techniques with Geraldine Dalke.

The pair are keen to keep up to date with the latest techniques, often pushing the boundaries themselves and developing new ideas to inspire and create amazing wedding centrepieces.
